Michael Williams
Michael completed a Sport & Recreation traineeship in 1999. His host was the NSW Golf Club at La Perouse in Sydney. Since 1999, Michael has continued to work at the golf club whilst completing a Bachelor of Legal and Justice Studies. He currently holds the position of "Functions & Events Co-Ordinator" at the club. He also plays off a handicap of 2!!!!.
Warren Carney
Warren completed his traineeship in Sports Administration (Sales and Marketing) in 1997. Warren then worked on a consultancy basis with a sports club assisting in promotional activities and corporate functions. In 2002 Warren and his partner launched their own business Carney Spaul Marketing. The company is based a Taren Point and supplies sporting apparel and promotional material to sporting and related organisations. Carney Spaul now host their own trainee.
Gjai Hoolihan
Gjai was able to achieve her dream of becoming a librarian while still at school. Gjai undertool a school based traineeship in her school library at Narrabundah College, completing a Certificate II in Library Information Management. Gjai has completed school and is continuing on her chosen career path, currently working at Australian Defence Force Academy library and studying for her Certificate III in Library Information Management. "Undertaking vocational education has given me so much confidence � I even spoke in front of 500 people at a presentation ceremony."
Wesley Maas
In 1998, whilst in Sydney pursuing a career in football Wesley completed a Greenkeeper traineeship with the Australian Training Company working at Parramatta Stadium. Wes later moved back to his home town of Dubbo, NSW bought a bobcat and truck and started his own earthmoving business. Today his business Maas Contracting Pty Ltd is one of the largest Earthmoving and Civil companies in the central west. It employs over twenty employees, as well as playing host to two trainees.
Stacey Porter
Stacey commenced her Certificate II Sport & Recreation traineeship in September 2004 and progressed to her Certificate III in 2005, at Softball NSW. Stacey had just returned from the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, where she was part of the silver medal winning softball team.
Stacey has managed to juggle the demands of a heavy training schedule with her traineeship and Softball NSW are thrilled that she has joined them and wonder how they ever managed without her.
Stacey's role is mainly development focused, working with young children and developing their skill and knowledge of the game she is passionate about. The staff at Softball NSW and the schools she visits acknowledge Stacey as a positive role model. On completion of her traineeship Stacey will continue to represent at State and National level as well as working at Softball NSW on a fulltime basis.
Ryan Sherry
Ryan completed a Sport and Recreation Traineeship in 1999 with host employer � NSW Department of Sport & Recreation at Narrabeen. Ryan has worked on many sport and recreation programs, specialising in disability sports.
Ryan is a disabled athlete and has represented at State and National level for disabled sports, in Athletics.
Ryan is now the NSW Co-Ordinator, Disability Education Program at NSW Department of Sport and Recreation. He also coordinates and conducts the training package for education providers and presenters in sport and activities for people with disabilities.
