HISTORY

The Australian Training Company (ATC) started life as a NETFORCE training company back in 1994. At that time, the aim was to boost structured training and employment opportunities for sports-people, particularly through Traineeships.

The company restructured in 1995 to form the ARL Sports Group Training Company with substantial financial backing from the Australian Rugby League. This generous support from the ARL enabled the company to grow it's trainee numbers and to improve the quality of service.

A further change in 1997 saw the name of the company broadened to the Australian Sports Industry Group Training Company. This reflected the wider industry coverage of the company by then involving more than 200 sports trainees.

The Company has now expanded it's coverage beyond New South Wales to Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory. Whilst the core business has remained Sports Trainees, expansion has occurred in such areas as hospitality, horticulture, business administration, retail, telecommunications and information technology.

From an initial intake of 25 Rugby League players as sports administration trainees, the company has gone on to provide career opportunities for more than 5000 trainees.

Many of these skilled and qualified young people have now progressed to the highest levels in the chosen fields.
